No one in this case went to jail. Ray Lewis started the trial at the table with Oakley and Sweeting. He flipped, pleading down to an obstruction of justice charge in exchange for testimony. Some sources say the three men were no longer friends because of the alleged betrayal.

Ironically, the only person to serve any sentence in this case at all was Lewis. Had he not flipped, he likely would have walked away with the same acquittal as the other defendants. The murders were never solved — This is written a lot, along with something to the effect that no other suspects were ever arrested. The jury found that it was self defense after only a few hours of deliberation.

His companions were. Lewis wanted no part of the fight, but not for some moral or noble reason. Unfortunately, the party ended in murder. Some odd things had happened after. For example, the white suit that Ray Lewis wore on the night of the murders has never been found.

Ultimately, however, Ray Lewis did not go to trial for murder. No other arrests have been made and the case, technically, remains unsolved. Lewis, however, had proclaimed his innocence in the killings saying that he had paid the families out of sympathy for them over guilt.

Was he more involved than people are saying? He also agreed to offer testimony against Oakley and Sweeting. One of the details that soon came out was that, the day before the stabbing, Lewis and his two friends had gone shopping at a Sports Authority store. There, both Sweeting and Oakley had purchased folding knives.

In the end, however, both Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of murder charges. There simply was not enough clear evidence about their involvement, especially since well over a dozen people had been involved in the brawl. Several years later, Lewis reached out-of-court settlements with the families of both stabbing victims. Amazing weekend spent among greatness.

In the eyes of the law, justice was served in the case and Lewis and his friends were officially declared innocent of murder. Many people even feel that the true facts of the case were never fully explained. One detail, in particular, comes up time and time again: the suit Lewis was wearing at the time of the murder. Simply put, the suit went suspiciously missing shortly after the night in question.

Presumably Lewis destroyed the suit, perhaps at the behest of his lawyers.
