When is tiamat viable

Generally speaking the easiest buff for you to split is going to be speed if you are in solo or mid, at least in the early game. At the end of the game, or if you're jungling, when you're all over the map anyway you can split whatever you want with whoever. It should be noted that it's fantastic for clearing the red buff because you negate a lot of the beserk damage that it gets.

Outburst Usage: Deal damage in a line as well as knockup enemies. My Thoughts: Honestly, I don't have a whole lot to say about this ability other than that it feels like it belongs on a guardian more than a mage, especially because it feels a lot like shockwave but with less? Its kind of a strange ability, but it is a great disruption tool against gods with channeled abilities that can be knocked up. Rising Flight Usage: Jump backwards backflip style and return into your ranged, flying stance.

My Thoughts: There isn't much to say about this ability either. Its damage is more confirmable than its counterpart Grounding Dive , but 9 times out of 10 you aren't using this for damage. It's either a movement ability or a stance switch depending on your needs. Just remember that it does share a cooldown with Grounding Dive.

Tempest of Undoing Usage: Deal damage in a circle around Tiamat and gain 1 hardened scale for each enemy god hit. My Thoughts: This ability may be so much simpler than Tiamat's other ultimate Children of Creation , it still is very useful.

It comes with a cooldown of 20 seconds and has CC immunity while casting, making it a very valuable tool for you. On top of the CC immunity, it also does a lot of damage between the burst and the burn and the hardened scales are no laughing matter either. If there are enemies to use this on, I'd say you may as well send it, since it's on a super short cooldown anyway.

My goal here is to help you understand what to build and when. No two games are the same and as such, its likely that you won't build the exact same thing every game. I'm going to talk about the items down below and sort of explain why I like them or what they're good for.

In some cases, I'll also discuss item synergies. MID Building in Mid is pretty straight forward right now. The combination of shoes, Spear of Desolation, and Rod of Tahuti makes for a ton of early game damage.

Some games you need to get Divine Ruin which delays you a bit, but the anti-heal will do more for you than the increased damage in the long run. On top of those, divine ruin and soul gem just give you so much extra damage, so they work really well together.

If you don't need the penetration or additional CDR You should go for the CDR in my opinion You could always switch those up with other items from the list.

Starter items Conduit Gem Usage: Conduit gem gives you a massive boost to your wave-clear not to mention god damage as well as some MP5 Archmage's Gem: Archmage's Gem is the direct upgrade to conduit gem.

It grants you major bonus damage after you haven't attacked for a while. It's pretty good, but I feel like the rapid fire nature of Tiamat's abilities make it lose some value Gem of focus: Gem of Focus. As the alternative upgrade to conduit gem, Gem of focus helps gods that are constantly using abilities. As you cast abilities it gives you a percentage increase of power, movement speed, and mitigations. And that doesn't even take into account the move speed and mitigations.

Vampiric shroud Usage: Vampiric shroud provides an option to acquire both health and mana sustain when hitting your abilities. I'm not personally a big fan of it in the mid-lane because at best you're gonna refund half of what your ability cost for mana, and you can get more lifesteal from Bancroft's Talon.

Theoretically, you can use this to get some absolutely absurd healing as well as infinite power when used in conjunction with Typhon's Fang That said, While this may be able to stack infinitely, you are still limited by the lifesteal cap from what I can tell so it really doesn't get that out of hand.

You need some serious lifesteal to pull this off because you can hurt yourself really bad when spamming Tiamat's abilities around. Combine it with other lifesteal such as Bancroft's, Typhon's, and soul gem and you'll be sitting pretty as long as you can hit your abilities. Pendulum of Ages: Pendulum of Ages does everything sands of time does, except better. When I say you get power, I mean you get some serious power out of this bad boy. You get decent power and protections from the item as well as a discount Khepri ult.

The only real problem with this is that the passive has a cooldown of 10 minutes. By the time you are level 20 Lets say on average 25 minutes you will only be able to use this once as it's rare to see games go much longer than 35ish minutes right now, at least from what I've seen. You'd be better off getting Pendulum of Ages and a mantle of discord for massively increased damage as well as better defenses.

General Build Starter Item: Refer to the previous table. This build works best with either conduit gem or sands of time. Spear of Desolation: Spear of Desolation is an absolutely fantastic item on any mage. It gives practically everything you would want with power, penetration, and CDR. What really makes it shine, outside of the absurd early damage, is the passive. The ability to take 8 seconds off of a 30 second cooldown is absolutely fantastic and allows you do deal some serious damage.

Just watch out for the lack of MP5 which might cause you to run out of mana if you aren't careful. Shoes of focus: Shoes of Focus are by far my preferred shoes to get for Tiamat, I think the early CDR is essential to doing well and getting ahead. On top of that the flat mana is also worthy of note. IF you wanted to go a different route you could do Shoes of the Magi which are going to give you additional power and some sustain.

They could be useful if you're getting poked out more than you thought you would be, but as a whole I still think shoes of focus are the way to go. Rod of Tahuti: Rod of Tahuti is another just absolutely fantastic item. Even without its passive, it gives you a boatload of power and MP5 and even penetration. When combined with Spear of Desolation you will be able to do some gnarly damage to anybody that gets in your way. If you want to do a lot of damage, this is the item for you.

At this point, you can start building in whatever direction you want based on what you need. Usually, I go into divine ruin or soul gem here. Divine ruin: Divine Ruin is realistically your only real anti-heal option as a mid so you're against a team that's got a healer on it, or honestly even a hunter with Devourer's Gauntlet , you should probably pick this up.

While you buy this for the anti-heal the added power and penetration are a nice benefit too. Soul Gem: Soul Gem is a really interesting item. It's god decent base stats on it, but what really makes it shine is the passive which has no internal cooldown.

IF you're really in the thick of it and spamming your abilities left and right, soul gem should help you deal a lot more damage as well as keep yourself alive just that little bit more. Obsidian Shard: Obsidian Shard is your quintessential penetration item. While 80 power is nothing to scoff at you could easily get more power out of a single item.

It should be noted that the passive on the item can break the penetration cap. You shouldn't need to worry about which ability you use the passive on too much, but if you're really concerned about it, Primordial Onslaught is likely going to be your best choice.

Lifesteal build Build Starter Item: IF you're going to pick up a starter item, Vampiric shroud is the one you want with this build since Sacrifical shroud is the backbone of the build, but I honestly think its better to start with Talon Trinket. You'll end up with better health sustain and mana potions can give you more mana sustain that vampiric shroud anyway. Bancrofts Talon: Bancroft's Talon is one of 2 quintessential lifesteal items. So long as you have mana, this item right here is gonna keep you alive and kicking as long as possible Shoes of focus: Shoes of Focus.

Even though this build focuses on lifesteal, I still think that shoes of focus are the way to go. CDR is just so important for Tiamat and the combination of Bancroft's and Typhons should be more than enough to keep you alive. Typhon's Fang: Typhon's fan is your other quintessential lifesteal item and it works fantastically with Bancroft's. Though it only has 70 power on it, it actually gives you a lot more than that. The passive provides additional power worth 2x your lifesteal percentage so by itself it actually gives power on top of the penetration it has.

In addition to the large amounts of power that this item can give you, it also drastically increases the amount of healing you get from magical lifesteal. At this point, you've got enough lifesteal where you can build other things here.

There's pretty much no set order to what you buy here. You'll probably want more CDR if you don't need Anti-heal Divine ruin: Divine Ruin is realistically your only real anti-heal option as a mid so you're against a team that's got a healer on it, or honestly even a hunter with Devourer's Gauntlet , you should probably pick this up.

This is probably gonna take the place of soul gem, spear of desolation, or Rod of Tahuti in this build. IF you're really in the thick of it and spamming your abilities left and right, soul gem should help you deal a lot more damage as well as give you more lifesteal to power up your Typhon's fang.

Spear of Desolation: Spear of Desolation comes in as the 8th item for this build list. I do this because there are just a lot of good items right now. The downside is when you need anti-heal. I really can't just omit divine ruin from this list because of how necessary it is to buy anti-heal when you need it. All that said, Spear of Desolation is a fantastic item that you'll probably want to buy nearly every game.

Additional options Book of Thoth Book of Thoth is a decent enough item. It's going to net you a lot of power and a lot of mana. Normally, I'm a huge advocate of building book of thoth as much as possible because I just like the item, but right now spear of desolation and rod of tahuti are just so powerful that it makes building book a little bit awkward on gods other than Kukulkan in my opinion.

It's definitely an option though, especially if you want to go for a Pendulum of Ages as it will help keep you with the boosted power. Yes it gives you a bunch of power, mana, and MP5, but the reason you buy it is for the additional movement speed it gives you. It would be a great pick up if you are just getting run down consistently or if you are maybe dropping kills because you are slow.

I personally haven't found too much use for it in my games, but I feel like I can't discount it as an option. Spear of the Magus Spear of the Magus allows you and your team to lock down a single opponent and burst them down just that much faster.

While you are going to buy this for the passive if you do, but it does give you noteworthy power and penetration Mantle of Discord: Mantle of Discord It almost feels weird recommending a defensive item here, but I think there are scenarios where you need it.

If you need defense, say you're getting blown up too quickly do do any damage this is probably what you should buy. It should help you stay alive in a tough situation, especially if you switch into ground stance and use your scales effectively. SOLO Generally speaking my solo builds have led with me buying boots and a starter item. From there it leads into Breastplate of Valor or Genji's Guard. For my third item, I usually like to have another damage item to help win fights in lane before moving into more protections.

Usually by fourth item it's important to have both pyhiscal and magical protections, but ultimately the call is yours to make, so you could go for a second physical defensive item or stack a physical with a split for example.

It wouldn't be bad to pick up something like an Ethereal staff there. If you need it you should buy Divine ruin as well.

Now, what I've mentioned here is highly variable and can be toyed with. Best thing I can do is give you a list of items and a general sense of when to use them. Best thing you can do is mess around with them. I think Archmage's gem is a viable upgrade when you're full power in mid, but I really don't think it works all that well in solo. It scales off your power, which you'll probably have on average.

It can work, but Gem of focus looks that much better Gem of focus: Gem of Focus feels really good on Tiamat, especially in a bruiser position. It grants percentage increases to power, movement speed, and mitigations. This means you'll be doing a bit more damage, perhaps less than Archmage's gem, but it makes you faster and take less damage. It's by far my preferred upgrade to conduit gem as far as playing solo goes. Vampiric shroud Usage: It returns health and mana to you when you hit abilities.

I like vampiric shroud a lot more in Solo than I do in mid. The sustain means more to me there. You can get more health sustain from something like Talon Trinket at level one, but Vamp shroud helps keep your mana up too especially because Tiamat isn't likely to win any fights over the totem. Sacrifical Shroud: Sacrificial Shroud If you're gonna start vamp shroud in the solo lane, this is what you want to upgrade it to.

It's gonna boost your damage significantly and as long as you build another lifesteal item, most likely Typhon's Fang the damage it does to you should be inconsequential. The only real downside is that it forces to you build at least one more lifesteal item so you don't just slowly kill yourself.

I should mention that you can't actually kill yourself, but in the situation where that's a problem there's a good chance you're dead anyway. Tainted Steel Usage: Tainted steel gives you immediate anti-heal which can be huge, but It really doesn't help your early damage or wave clear. I haven't really liked it that much personally. Just getting one of the mage starters and moving into divine ruin second or third item feels better to me.

Tainted Breastplate: Tainted Breastplate is what you're going to get 9 times out of 10 from a tainted steel. You're buying this item for anti-heal. On top of that it gives top notch physical protections.

Pretty much the only time this might be worth it is if you're fighting a really high sustain team with say a Sylvanus support, Aphrodite mid, and Chaac solo, You need anti-heal for that. Tainted Amulet: Tainted Amulet is an interesting item, though I personally feel its only home is on Cerberus because its literally his passive Spirit of Death. If you bought Tainted Steel, you bought it for anti-heal. It's probably got its uses, particularly into magic heavy healing teams because this also gives pretty respectable magical defense.

Physical Protections Breastplate of Valor: Breastplate of Valor is your best friend when against a warrior in the solo lane. To sweeten the deal that much more, its also gonna give you mana and MP5 It's a huge power spike for you because you are gonna start taking a lot less damage and dealing yours a lot faster. Midgardian Mail: Midgardian Mail is probably the second best physical protections item for a magical solo laner.

Generally speaking physical damage in the late game is gonna come from basic attacks. Well reducing their attack speed is probably the best way to stop them from hurting you as much. On top of the protections and attack speed slow, its also gonna give you some health which is always nice.

Even then I'm not a HUGE fan of this one its just the best of the bunch in my opinion as physical protections go. It's decent power on it and probably on average about 50 protections when taking the passive into account so it isn't bad, so I keep it in the item pool.

Generally speaking though, I pass it up for something like a Mantle of Discord or Hide of the Urchin. Magical Protections. The catch is the passive though. When you take magical damage all active cooldowns are reduced by 3 seconds.

While this can only proc every 30 seconds, it can pretty drastically drop the use time between your abilities. This is probably what you'll buy when you're laning against a magical character. Pestilence: Pestilence. Sure its an anti-heal item, but its got some pretty decent stats on it.

Not too much to say really, its got top notch magical protections and a bunch of health for you. I could mention that I largely prefer this over Contagion. Talisman of Energy: Talisman of Energy is a weird item and probably one that shines on more auto attack based solo, but I do still like it on Tiamat.

That way those pesky enemy gods can't just walk away from you. Its place in your build is going to be when you need more magical protection as well as percentage mitigations. Void Stone: Void Stone is your magical bruiser item.

I like this one on the mid-late game when you want to do more damage, but can't really afford the lack of defense from a damage item. That way you can get its passive stacked.

While it does have pretty good stats on it as a base item, it really shines once you get 7 kills or assists. Each stack on the passive gives you a few more protections for a total of 51 protections when fully stacked. Aditionally it also grants you a health shield that grows as you are out of combat. It's gonna help you be that much tankier in the brunt of a teamfight, and a lot harder for the enemy to poke you out. Mantle of Discord: Mantle of Discord is going to help you stay alive in the brunt of a team fight.

While you can definitely see the value of the item by building it yourself, you really start to notice it when the enemy builds it and you drop a kill because of the CC immunity and getting stunned. It really can be quite the life saver. Pridwen: Pridwen. Do you like CDR? Do you like Shields? Then this is your item! While it does grand you some protections, it really shines from its large amounts of CDR and the shield you get after using your ultimate The 45 second internal cooldown actually matters on Tiamat, so keep that in mind.

It's also important to note that when the shield is broken or expires, it will explode dealing damage to nearby enemies and slows them. Stone of Gaia Stone of Gaia is the item for you if you want massive amounts of health. It is tied with Animosity for the most health on a single item. Cancel X. Topic Archived. User Info: Ulala Rules. User Info: DeleveleD. How does Tiamat work on her since she's both melee and ranged? Does it get nerfed when she enters ranged mode? The statement below is false. The statement above is true. User Info: Hyper Inferno. Yes, when Kayle enters ranged mode, her autoattack becomes flagged as a ranged auto attack. So it'll slow for the reduced amount with red buff or Rylai's and will not increase the duration of the Ghostblade buff.

Tiamat doesn't really synchronize all that well with Righteous Fury because RF's splash radius is pretty large and she deals enough AoE damage that you can pretty easily clear out minion waves already. The added splash from Tiamat doesn't really help her do it a lot faster. I reject your reality and substitute my own!

User Info: Snagg From: Ulala Rules or still junk item. User Info: hpdeskjetc. I think so, Tiamat is cheap AD with a mini-philo stone. The splash radius is smaller however attacking the middle minion should be enough to trigger the splash on both surrounding minions.
