Skyrim should i put perks in smithing

It's mostly because my character only uses ranged attacks destruction and archery so protection isn't all that necessary for me. However, it would be nice if I didn't just die in 1 or 2 hits I'm just saying it's possible to not invest in any and play through the game without much trouble. My character is only level midish so it could be wrong. Like x 1. What is the strongest heavy armor? Ah ok. You guys are so helpfull I learn a lot here! Does damage of weapons also has a cap?

And dragonscale is the best light armor or glass? Nightshade : 1 Point For being very helpful and answering multiple questions : Dec 21, Alright, sorry for asking this again, but I still don't fully understand it. I need to use potions and echantments to make legendary dragonscale armor, right? But which potions are those and where can I buy them?

Just randomly in stores? But I asume there is something better right? You must log in or sign up to post here. Show Ignored Content. Agree x 2. Disagree x 1. Harperlarp Member. Back on topic, smithing can be great, but is not necessary, so RP it out, if your character would smith then by all means smith if not, then dont worry about it.

After a while i felt cheap doing it like that and vowed my next playthrough i will still smith, because i enjoy it, but i will also enchant at the same time to slow the level rate. Slaving away at a smelter or grindstone would be too much like work, and if he wanted a dayjob, why become an adventurer? I couldn't temper most of it even if I wanted to, because I haven't spent perks or gotten smithing high enough to improve magic stuff. I just successfully fought two hagravens and a briarheart at the Bard's Leap summit word wall, and having untempered, unmatched gear didn't seem to be too much of a handicap.

Medea The Shadow Queen. Since Smithing is also a non-combat skill, it won't level as quickly or organically as something like Two-Handed, Block, or Archery. The only way to ensure that such a weapon could be obtained at any time is through knowing how to craft it at a forge - something that comes in handy when trying to get a set bonus.

In addition to this, one of the more overlooked advantages to Smithing is that it maximizes the usefulness of lower-level weapons and armor. Smithing perks not only allow them to be forged, but also to be improved by twice as much. If, however, the player has invested in the Orcish Smithing perk, they can improve their Orcish Axe twice as much as they can improve the Ebony one.

More high-tier weapons and armor also requires more expensive, rare ingots and ore to craft and improve. Steel, iron, and leather are far easier to come by in comparison. One of the reasons late-game Skyrim can sometimes feel more arduous or even boring is that once the player has their strongest gear, the thrill tends to die down. Skyrim is an exploration and gear-driven game, and when the player already has maxed out Daedric Armor and a Dragonbone Warhammer, any lesser rewards earned from doing quests or exploring dungeons aren't worth doing.

Exploring random missed dungeons or caves is one of the best things to do after completing Skyrim , so without that incentive to find better loot, the game starts to lose momentum. In this instance Smithing, one of the game's potentially less interesting skills, ends up being one of the best ways to keep the game fresh.
